Meet Your ’08-’09

Maddie Rojas is 12 years old and a 7th Grader at MCAA. She is new to our Yuba –Sutter area and just moved from Sparks, Nevada this past July. This is Maddie’s first year (and already a wonderful addition) to Jacque’s and the Team. She was a member of Team DanceWorks in Nevada for two seasons and has competed in many competitions. She has received awards, including 1st place in Lyrical Solo at Thunderstruck National Dance Competition in Las Vegas, Nevada. Maddie likes ice cream, spaghetti, and camping. She dislikes broccoli (most of us agree with you Maddie). Her favorite style of dance is lyrical. Maddie’s Mom would like to commend her daughter for being a trooper about temporarily living in small quarters (sometimes cold showers and no TV!!!) while they’re building a house in the hills. We welcome Maddie and her family to our town, to our Team, and to our families.

At seven years young, Haley Romig is the youngest and one of the newest Team JDE members. She lives in Plumas Lake with her parents, older brother (and Hip-Hopper) Grayson, and their dog Ginger. Haley attends 3rd Grade at Cobblestone Elementary School. Her Mom, Nicolette, shared that Haley has an artistic personality which draws her to all types of dance, including Greek folk dancing. She has been dancing for 3 years and ballet is her favorite style of dance. Haley is naturally drawn to creative activities, enjoys learning a new song on the piano, and likes to learn how to care for small animals. Haley is involved with community service through her church. Some of her favorite things are strawberries, sleepovers with her best friend, and the TV show, “Dog Whisperer”. Welcome Haley!!! We look forward to seeing you light up the stage with your spunk and beautiful smile.

Jazzmine Brown is 15 years old and a member of the Senior Dance team. She has been dancing for 5 years and this is her 5th year on Team JDE. Jazzmine attends MCAA and is involved in various school activities and plays (including: Brigadoon and Pinocchio). She will be seen in the upcoming MCAA production “Fiddler on the Roof”. Her favorite dance is Contemporary. She loves to text, go to ‘My Space’, and eat (especially ‘tender crisp chicken sandwich’ from BK)!!! It is sad to say that Jazzi dislikes vegetables and her History class.  Jazzmine is generally a happy person and only gets annoyed when “I’m hungry!” But she has been eating right because she always has a good attitude towards her dance mates, the parents, and to the younger dance students (as an Assistant Ballet and Jazz Teacher). “Mum” (Janice) notes that “Jazzmine is like a butterfly…she flutters all over the place and when you see her, she is always smiling and happy”. Jazzmine is an awesome young lady and a wonderful example to all kids.

JJ (Jennifer) Johnson is 13 years old and in the 8th grade at Faith Christian School. She has been dancing for ten years and enjoys all dances. Her favorite style of dance is Tap followed closely by Ballet. Her favorite color is green and her favorite food is Chocolate!!! JJ likes to go to the beach and turns into a giddy little kid once her toes hit the sand. JJ has an older brother, Kyle, who is also her personal driver. JJ’s Mom and Dad would like her to know that they are very proud of her. Keep up the great work, JJ!!!

Timarie Phillips is 11 years old and attends Brittan Elementary School as a 6th grader. She has been dancing since she was 8 and loves Lyrical. This is her first year on Team JDE. Timarie wants to be a teacher when she grows up. She has two older brothers (Steven,19 & Mark,16) and an older sister (Kaylee,14). Timarie and her brothers are involved in drama productions in school and love “hamming” it up. Timarie is a bundle of energy and fun. Timarie says “My family supports me in all I do and I’m thankful”. We are grateful that you are a part of Team JDE family as well.

Tesh-Ann lives with her Mom and Dad in Yuba City and has a 20 year-old older brother attending Humboldt State. Her favorite colors are green and purple but is currently on a big Zebra print phase. Favorite food=Junk…would rather snack than eat a real meal. When not dancing (“What?”), Tesh-Ann enjoys going to the beach in the Summer, snowboarding in the Winter, and hanging out with her friends. She is never far away from her phone and her parents feel that she is training for the next Texting Competition. Tesh-Ann also helps out the younger dancers as an Assistant Teacher (including for the current Peewee team) and frequently shows her versatility by filling in and readily jumping into spots (from absent dancers) thus helping the choreographers achieve their vision. We are lucky to have this talented young lady dancing for Team JDE.

She is now delighting audiences as well… Keep on dancing, Lauren!!!

Brianna Houston is 14 years old and a freshman at Yuba City High. She just finished her first season as a cheerleader for the Freshman Football team and loved it. Over the years, she began taking more classes including two of her faves, lyrical and tap. Brianna has been an assistant teacher to Ms. Andrea (on Saturdays) for 3-4 years now and enjoys her ‘little kids’, which is great practice because she wants to be a teacher someday. This will be Brianna’s 4th year on the Team JDE. Her dance friends are also some of her best friends. Thank you Ms. Jacque for having her in a Trio with her buddies, Morgen and JJ. When not dancing, Brianna likes to hang out with her bestie Tesh-Ann, watching TV shows like ‘Jon & Kate Plus8’ who she would like to offer her services as a babysitter. Brianna loves the beach and Disneyland (and her fave, Goofy). Her favorite food is Tri-tip, crab, artichokes, and chicken Caesar salad. The only veggie she’ll eat is corn and dislikes squash and okra. Brianna has gone a long way from her first dance recital as a ‘little chickie’ where there were yellow feathers everywhere. Now, she’s spreading her genuine heart and smile on stage.
